Obituary of James R. "Tink" Turner

James R. “Tink” Turner, 68, of Burlington, NC passed away Saturday November 9, 2019.

Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 2:00PM Monday November 18, 2019 at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Porter and Rev. Andy Clapp officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Monday at the church.

A native of Reidsville, NC, Tink was the husband of 33 years to Nancy Justice Turner and the son of the late, Oliver Napoleon Turner and Velma Richardson Turner. Tink was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving and receiving multiple medals during the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. In earlier years, Tink was known for his skills at and love for the game of baseball. He enjoyed cooking and sharing his home cooked food with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy of the home; daughter, Shayla Marques and husband, Michael; son, David Reed and wife, Mariah; step-sons, Tony Johnson and wife, Christine, Jeffrey Johnson and wife, Tracy, Rodney Johnson and wife, Lisa, and Dale Johnson; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Dennis Turner and wife, Kathy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tink was preceded in death by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
