Obituary of John Allen Bowers Sr.

Mr. John Allen Bowers Sr., 79, gained his heavenly reward after a long battle with dementia.

Funeral service will be held 12:00PM Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel with Pastor Tim Gammons officiating. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 AM until time of service.

A native of Forsyth County, he was born May 14, 1939 to the late Paul and Jean Bowers. John was an amazing husband, father and grandfather with a huge, bubbly, joyful personality. He was a jokester and loved making people laugh. He loved sports of all kinds, but especially loved his Carolina Tarheels basketball. He proudly served his country with the United States Army. He was a deeply religious man and was true to his faith to the end. His character was all that was good and true. His word was his bond.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister Jeanette Bruce.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Linda; sons Johnny and wife Teresa Bowers, Steve and wife Kendra Bowers; daughter Suphrina and husband Jonathan Gee; five grandchildren, Kayla, Trey, Addison, Raegan and Grayson; sister Diana and husband Brian Cooper and two brothers Paul and Bill Bowers.
