Obituary of Luther "Ronnie" Blackburn

Luther “Ronnie” Blackburn, 79, passed away July 20, 2018.  Funeral Services celebrating his life will be 2:00 PM Monday July 23, 2018 at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, officiated by Pastor Tony Allen.  Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory with Military Honors.

Ronnie was born September 13, 1938, in Forsyth County, to the late Macie Loggins Blackburn and Samuel L.  Blackburn.  Ronnie left Kernersville High School early to enlist in the United States Army in November of 1955.  When he returned from his military service he worked at Crawford Mills until he started Driving Trucks.  He was with Roadway Express until his retirement in 2001.

Ronnie enjoyed fishing in The Cheaspeake Bay, watching NASCAR, and being with his family and friends. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Melinda Lou Blackburn.

Survivors include; wife, Betty Blackburn of the home; daughter, Rhonda Medlin and fiancée Tommy Moffitt; son, Michael Ballard and Debbie; grandchildren, Brandy Medlin and Chris Medlin; and many extended family and friends.

The family will visit with friends Monday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at the Funeral Home.
