Obituary of Gladys Combs Phillips
Gladys Combs Phillips, 89, passed away peacefully at her home on September 17, 2018.
Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be held 1:00PM Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Chapel in Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. Phil Bauguess officiating.
A native of the Draper Community of Rockingham County, Gladys was the daughter of the late Annie Mae Cross and Marvin Brantley Combs. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her siblings Frances Combs DeGori, Furman Combs, and Virginia Ann Reed.
Gladys was a homemaker, a very supportive wife and mother for her family as they traveled many years before settling in Winston-Salem. Her favorite pastime always was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-nine years, Ray Phillips of the home; sons John Phillips and Tina, George Phillips, and Paul Phillips all of Winston-Salem; daughter Phyllis Bauguess and Mike of Johnson City, Tennessee; grandchildren Allan Phillips and Erika, Kris Phillips and Nicky, Chris Williams, April Kaylor and Jason, Patrick Phillips, Taylor Phillips, Ashton Phillips, Brandy Lydon and Joey, and Travis Bauguess and Caroline; twelve great-grandchildren; brother Gene Combs and Louise of Burlington; half-brother Dean Batchelor of Fayetteville; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
