Obituary of James Edney Freeman
Kernersville—James Edney Freeman, Sr. was born in Bat Cave, NC on November 1, 1924 and made it to his 95th birthday celebration.
A graveside celebration of his life will be Saturday, November 9, 2019, 3:00 pm, at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory, 530 Dobson Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.
He loved living in the mountains near Chimney Rock, but left for N.C. State to become a civil engineer. Then, around 1952, he was set up on a blind date and met the absolute love of his life, Carolyn Lee Elliott. They married in March of 1953 and spent the next 60 years together, blessing all who knew them. They raised their six children and are survived by them, 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grand children. James Edney & Robin Freeman, Jr. and their 4 daughters, Lacey, Aisha, Nora, & Shawn; Katharine & Steve Spears and their 2 children and 3 grandchildren, Lori & Christian Riddle and children Gavin & Ellie, and Michael Spears and daughter, Kaylee; John & Debbie Freeman and their 2 daughters, Elizabeth and Allison; Elizabeth & Stuart Schwark and three children, Joshua, Caroline, and Sarah; Mary & Todd Denman and their 5 children and grandson, Anna Marie & Andrew Stoudenmire, III and Otto, IV, Luke, Laura, Andrew, and Scott; and Karl & Mary Freeman and their 3 children, Adah, Seth, and Patrick.
His family is grateful for the life he lived, the example he set, and love we felt.
