Obituary of Rena Lee Mitchell

Rena Lee Mitchell, age 73, passed away peacefully during the evening of Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in Novant Medical Center, surrounded by her family, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

A celebration of her life and reception will be held from 2:00PM to 4:00PM Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Jefferson House Event Center, next door to Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services.

Rena was born on August 24, 1946, in Norfolk, VA, the only daughter of Albert and Evy (Ricks) DeJoseph. Rena lived her life to the fullest, as a Radiologic Technologist for 46 years, first at the VA Hospital and various orthopedic clinics in Virginia, Michigan, and North Carolina, retiring from the Jennings Clinic in Winston Salem. Outside of her day job, she spent time as an involved band parent and PTA president, and most recently, making jewelry, knitting, and caring for her furry "children" Buddy & Missy.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, David; their daughter, Sarah (Geoff) Grochoski; two grandsons, David Grochoski and Alexander Grochoski of Rockwell, NC and her brother Charles (Sandi) DeJoseph of Estes Park, CO.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org) in her remembrance.
