Robert was my friend from the days at Union Cross Elementary School through Glenn High School, where we were teammates on a very good basketball team. We kept that friendship through our adult years through Modified Auto Racing and class reunions. Robert always had your back and would give you the shirt off his own back. Robert was a very humble man but don’t push him too hard as he could roar like a lion. I miss you my friend, forever and always. RIP friend.

To know Robert, was to love Robert. I met Robert a few years ago when I worked in a Restaurant. I labeled him as my favorite customer the moment I met him. I always reminded him of that every time I saw him and he’d always give me that good old faithful grin and that “yeah right” look. But it was true... he was and will always be my favorite. His personality and his smile was infectious and would always brighten up my day. I left the restaurant back in October of 2020. I met a lot of amazing people while I was there and I’m more than glad I got to meet him. “My sweeeet, sweeet Rooobeerrt”.. to see that smile again, I’d do anything. Always and forever in my heart. May the sweetest soul I ever met, rest peacefully now.

I first met Robert & Dottie in the early 70s - we met when we were all having trouble finding help with our tobacco farming so we decided to help each other. We became good friends and even stayed in touch after I moved to California. When they were going to FL for the modified race in Daytona they wanted me to come so I flew out from CA and we went to FL for the races - we had such fun, that was in late 80's. When I was office manager for a company in early 2000 in NC I hired Dottie to come and help me so we worked together until 2004 when I moved to Wilkes and left to start a new career in real estate. I was devastated to hear of Dottie's passing and Robert and I stayed in touch after she passed. He last texted me around the first of Sept and told me he was going to come to Wilkes to see me. I told him to come on. The last words he texted to me was "I love you" and the last words I texted to him was "I love you too" - better words could never be said for how I felt about Robert Haymore and Dottie. No finer people have ever lived. Now they are together again.

I worked with and knew Robert and Dottie for years. I liked the way these two lived and worked on the farm plus hauling cars too, Never heard anyone speak anything but good of the both. I had not seen Robert for many years. I guess I should have. I would run across people that lived near to him I would always ask how he was doing. What a great guy. I talked to a friend last night, We had lots of good stories about times we had with Robert. All good. Plus I learned a few things that I did not know about him. How he knew how to set up race cars. I was told people from all over would call him for advice about the subject. He will be missed. I know that I was glad to have known Robert and his better half. I would say that those two half would add up to 10 in my book..Terry Morris
