Wow. I became friends with Tommy when he moved down the street from me in Wilmington, NC in 1966. I’ve wondered many times what happened to Tommy (and forgive me for calling him Tommy, but that’s who he was in 1966!). I’m saddened by this “news”. I’ve thought about him and good times we had as kids through high school. In 1975 I moved to New Orleans with much uncertainty in my future. I’ll never recall not only how I discovered and became focused on moving from Wilmington to New Orleans since, obviously, there was no internet. But I did and made a great life there, where I still remain. I will never forget one day, and I had not been in New Orleans but maybe a month, hot as the dickens, and Tommy showed up. He was at Baylor, I believe he said he was a walk on playing football there. We visited for a while, and that was it. How he found me will always be a forgotten mystery, but it was our last encounter. He was an outstanding athlete and a very close friend throughout our adolescent teen years. For any family members who might see this, Mike, Bruce and his sister, whose name escapes me (my apologies), may he Rest In Peace. Bryan Colwell

My husband and I live up the street and we walk through the neighborhood everyday. Tom was often outside with Bo and always said hi by name. We had many short conversations as we would walk by. He was always so friendly and positive. We always looked forward to chatting with him. We will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers. We will miss him. Becky and Jim
