Obituary of David Neil Outen
David Neil Outen, 74, of Kernersville, NC passed away peacefully Saturday, August 28, 2021.
A native of Monroe, NC, Neil was the husband of the late Deborah Kerner “Debbie” Outen and the son of the late Claude Bennett Outen and Virginia Mae Mical Rape. Neil was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving two tours during the Vietnam War and obtaining the rank of Sergeant as well as receiving “The Purple Heart”. He was member of Gospel Light Baptist Church for more than 40 years where he served in the Bus Ministry for more than 30 years. Neil was an avid golfer and was instrumental in starting the Norman B. Still Golf Tournament where he participated in for over twelve years.
Survivors include his daughter, Erica Outen Wise of Monroe, NC; grandchildren, Ryan Weavil and wife, Alyssa of Midway, NC, Kaitlin Morris and husband, Zack of Midway, NC, Natalie Brooks of Monroe, NC, and Travis Brooks and wife, Kelly of Monroe, NC; great grandchildren, Oakley Morris, Dillon Brooks, Landyn Brooks, Bentley Sims, Nevaeh Brooks, and Aaliyah Brooks; sister, Pat Rape Busse and Steve Schlosser of Wingate, NC; and brother, Berry Outen and wife, Frances of Belews Creek, NC.
In addition to his wife and parents, Neil was preceded in death by his daughter, Lorrie Ann Brooks; great grandsons, Kendall Hampton Weavil and Ryan Evans Weavil, Jr.; brother, Charlie Ray Outen; and nephew, Adam Ross Smitherman, Sr.
Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 10:00AM Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Gospel Light Baptist church with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Walkertown. The family will greet friends with a formal visitation from 5:00PM to 7:00PM Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel.
