Obituary of Billie Juanita Gillespie Penfield Doub

Billie Juanita Gillespie Penfield Doub, 91, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 12, 2022.

Juanita was born in Midway, NC on August 14, 1930 and was the youngest of eight children in the Gillespie family. She was a homemaker for many years and then worked in retail as a switchboard operator for Thalhimers and as department manager. In her later years, Juanita worked as switchboard operator at a Walmart. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, William S. Penfield; daughter, Teresa Crotts; and granddaughter, Dana Crotts.

Surviving are her daughters, Gail Transou and husband, Frank; Jennifer Forcum and husband, Kenny; five grandchildren, Scott Shoaf and wife, Kimberly, Stacey Smith and husband, Ben, Sherrie Shoaf, Guy Phillips, and Zak Phillips; and five great grandchildren, Emma Shoaf, Elli Shoaf, Zoe Horton, Madi Williams, and Poppy Williams.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 10:30AM Monday, May 16, 2022 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4:00PM to 6:00PM Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the funeral home.
