Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Binkley Coffey

Elizabeth Ann Binkley Coffey passed away on November 24, 2023 at Brookridge Nursing Home in Winston-Salem. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had a deep faith and enjoyed studying the scriptures, always feeling God's love and care. When at home, she enjoyed spending time outdoors on her porch watching birds and marveling at their ability to build a nest. She is now finding peace and rest in God's loving presence. Ann was born in Forsyth County on January 1, 1929 to Harry M. Binkley and Annie Manuel Binkley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Coffey; a sister, Etta Belle Fulp of Kernersville; and a brother, Dick Binkley of Kennesaw, GA.

She is survived by three sons, Robin Coffey (Annette) of Winston-Salem; Bill Coffey (Brenda) of Calabash, NC; and Joey Coffey (Yvonne) of Winston-Salem. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Jason Coffey (Terri) of Sunset Beach, NC and Jyl Minetz (Mike) of Burgaw, NC; three great grandchildren, Hunter Bercuinas of Calabash, Liam Coffey of Sunset Beach, and Ayva Minetz of Burgaw; step-grandson Kevin Leonard of Lexington, NC; and step-great grandson Colin McClure of Sunset Beach.

Ann worked in public accounting for over 58 years. She and Joe loved to travel and spent a lot of time in Little River, Sc, where they owned a second home near the beach. In years past, she had served on the Board of Directors as treasurer at the Shepherd's Center in Kernersville for several years and had been a member of the American Business Women's Association.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 27 at 3:00 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church in Kernersville, where Ann was a member. Rev. Dan Hester and Rev. Phil Bauguess will conduct the service.
