Our dear friend, Roger, gave of his time and energy freely. He empathized with others and spent most of his time and energy helping others, often people he barely knew. His death was a blow to all who knew and loved him. He helped people overcome fear and gain confidence with martial arts, and gave of his time and money in a myriad of other ways. He loved puns, laughed a lot, was full of energy and always had a smile for anyone who needed it. Only God knows the impact he had on those in his life, and the impact those people had on others around them.

My husband & I are so saddened by the passing of our sweet friend. Roger will be missed greatly. He volunteered so much of his time to help others in any way he could. There are so few who do what he did for the people around him. He knew no stranger. RIP dear friend. We will see you in heaven one day.

Dear Marsha and family,
Please accept our deepest condolences, we were so sad to hear about Roger’s passing. Tim and Roger have lots of great memories from years past during their time together at VP. Tim and Roger ate lunch together a lot of days along with Tom Bennett. Tim nicknamed Roger “Old # 7” because every time they ate at the Chinese restaurant Roger ordered #7 on their menu. I’m so glad we were able to have lunch with both of you back in November. Roger was a special friend!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Love, Tim and Mary Ruth Mabe

Dear Marsha, Jennifer, and family,
My brother Perry and I (Tom Bennett's children) are so sad to hear that Roger has passed away - he was one of our dad's very best friends of some 30+ years - we heard stories of him our whole life. Roger truly did have a servant's heart, and went out of his way to love and care for other people.
Please know that we're thinking of you, and sending so much love and care your way.
With love and sadness,
Jodie Bennett

Roger, you were my best friend. There are no words to describe what you meant to me and my family. You taught me so much more than martial arts and made me a better person. Heaven got a little bit brighter with such a shining star.
To you, Brother.
You taught me a lot of things,
More than you will ever know,
But you forgot to teach me one last thing
How to let you go.
I know you didn’t mean to leave so suddenly
You didn’t have a choice
You were one in a million, my best friend
It hard to believe I will no longer hear your voice.
I wish I got to say “I love you, Brother”
Before you were taken to the sky,
If God would grant me one last wish,
I’d ask to say “Goodbye”
You touched so many lives
You helped so many and were so selfless
I know it’s true when they say.
“He only takes the best”

It was a comfort to me to work with him for seventeen years. He was a honorable and caring man.
