Obituary of James Earl Morris, Sr.

James Earl Morris, Sr., 85, of Walkertown passed away peacefully Sunday, December 24, 2023.

A native of Statesville, NC, James was the husband of Jenny Lee White Morris and was married on December 14, 1963, where they had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He was the son of Murray Clark Morris and Lena Emmeline Cook Morris, both deceased. James was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He attended Statesville City Schools. James retired after many years as a manager at K&W Cafeterias. He and his wife were avid motorcycle riders and were members of the Winston-Salem Gold Wing Club and traveled to the West Coast. James was a Deacon and served on multiple committees for many years at Walkertown First Baptist and was well known for his church chicken stews. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Jenny; son, Jonathan Morris; daughter, Jennifer Morris Sell (Scott); daughter-in-law, Kimberly Morris; four grandchildren, Levi Morris (Maggie), Mason Morris (Emily), Cole Sell (Madison), and Jake Sell; two great grandchildren, Grayson Morris, and Paige Sell; and a close family friend, Michael Cary.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his son, James Earl “Jimmy” Morris, Jr.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held 2:00PM Friday, December 29, 2023, at REVO Church-Walkertown Campus, 5185 Sullivantown Rd., Walkertown, NC 27051, with Pastor Stephen Lockwood officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Walkertown. The family will greet friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Friday prior to the service at the church.
