Obituary of Gary Lynn Godsey

Mr. Gary Lynn Godsey , 67, of East Bend, NC went to meet the Lord on March 11th, 2024 at his daughters home in Kernersville, NC. Born in Bell County, KY, he was the son of Robert Godsey and Goldie Taylor Godsey.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Edna Joyce Godsey; his son, Marty Godsey (Karen); his son, Gary Godsey (Olivia); his daughter, Christy Little; his grandchildren, Samantha, Allison, Noah, Micah, Mariah and Ethan Godsey, Jazmin, Jayden (Saige), and Kimora Pompey; his brother, Ricky Godsey (June), Michael Taylor (Lynn); his sisters, Lisa Sheridan and Sue Hoskins (Donald); and a host of great grandchildren, great grand dogs, great grand kitties, nephews and nieces, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Papaw Edison Taylor and Mamaw Nona Taylor as well as his sister, Debbie Valentine; his brother, Daryl Godsey; and Aunts and Uncles.

Gary worked many jobs supporting his family over the years. The career that really touched his heart was as an EMT with Brenners Children’s Hospital until retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and teaching his children, grandchildren and their friends about survival in the wilderness.

Gary will be laid to rest at 11:00am on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Mt. Gur Cemetery in Kernersville, NC.
