Obituary of Bessie Elkins

Mrs. Bessie R. Elkins, 87, of High Point, died Friday, July 3, 2009, at Adam's Farm Living and Rehab. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, at Sandy Ridge United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Bob Hyatt officiating. Mrs. Elkins was born in Guilford County, July 28, 1921, to Emma Carter Farrington and William Sherman Farrington. She graduated from Colfax High School and was a loving and devoted homemaker, wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband B. L. Elkins, brothers, Henry Carter, William Charles, Clarence and John Farrington; sisters Lillie Clegg, Mable Sampson, Hazel Farrington, and Dorothy Gribble. Mrs. Elkins is survived by a son, Stephen Randall Elkins, of Morehead City; a daughter, Janice and husband Bill 'Tiny' Avery, of Greensboro; sister, Lessie Sharpe; two grandchildren, Sean Kelly Harvell and Stephanie Nicole Elkins; two step grandchildren, Tom Avery and Jordan Byrd, and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Service.
