Obituary of Julius Doggett

Julius Rome Doggett , 85 of 3963 Lewiston Rd. Summerfield, NC went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2009 after a lengthy illness. He was at home surrounded by his loving family. A graveside service will be held at Lakeview Memorial Park at 11:00 am on Monday June 29, 2009 followed by a celebration of life service at 12:30 pm at Morehead United Methodist Church with the Reverend Bryant Wilbourne officiating. Julius was born on August 6, 1923 in Guilford County North Carolina. He married the love of his life Sudie Wall Doggett on April 11, 1944. They celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1943. He served his country during World War II on the European Front with the 354th Fighter Group. After service he worked for Cone Mills for 45 years. He was a faithful member of Morehead United Methodist Church where he served on various committees. He was preceded in death by his parents Don Carlos Doggett and Lula Mae Doggett; his sisters: Nellie Griffin, and Edna Adams: brothers: Don Doggett, Horace Doggett, and Homer Meadows Doggett. He is survived by his wife Sudie Wall Doggett, sons; Don Doggett and wife Gwyn of Holden Beach NC and Steve Doggett of Whitsett NC; daughter; Joyce King and husband Ronnie of Lawndale, NC; grandchildren, Don Doggett Jr. and wife Lisa of Phoenix, Az.; Brian Doggett and wife Stephanie of Kingsport Tenn.; Shane Doggett of Greensboro, NC, Julie Doggett of Greensboro, NC and Jordan Doggett and wife Tiane of Greensboro, NC; Hunter King and Haley King of Lawndale, NC.; step grandchildren; Melissa Crutchfield of Winston Salem, NC and Ryan Tellekamp of Greensboro and 7 great grandchildren. He is survived by a brother Carl Lyndo Doggett and wife Geraldine of Greensboro and sister Lena Ferguson of Chattanooga Tenn. The family will receive friends on Sunday June 28th from 4 ' 6 pm at Lambeth and Troxler Funeral Home and at other times at the home. The family would like to express special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care for their excellent care support during his illness. Also special thanks goes to Drs. Nevill Gates and Sigmund Tannenbaum for their excellent care.
