Obituary of Ellie Goins

Mrs. Ellie D. 'Polly' Goins, age 84 passed away Monday June 22, 2009 at Friends Home in Greensboro. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Thursday June 25, 2009 at Westminster Gardens with Reverend Mark Shelley and Reverend Cletis Titus officiating. Mrs. Goins was born April 10, 1925 in Rockingham County to the late Wade and Martha Durham. She was a devoted member of Shannon Hills Chapel for 53 years and Sunday School teacher for 4 year olds and 5th grade girls. Polly retired twice from Ciba-Geigy and was a Wal-Mart greeter. An avid gardener and cook, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed. She is preceded in death by her husband, John M. Goins,a sister; Virginia D. Malloy, brothers; Wade A. Durham, Wilbur Durham and Marion A. Durham. Survivors include a daughter Sue G. Crawford and husband Charles, granddaughter Heather Crawford; grandson Jonathan Crawford; brothers Kenneth G. Durham, and Delmar C. Durham. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home from 6:00- 8:00 pm.
