Mike and family, We were so very sorry to hear of Jean's passing. Just know that you are lifted up in prayer. I had not seen her pretty face since high school, but I will always remember her as the beautiful bouncy cheerleader, and the girl that we all simply wanted to be. God Bless.

Rest in peace.
04/12/2012 - Keith Winters, Ultimate Building Concepts
Mike,
We really enjoyed meeting and sharing what little time we had with Jean while we were working on your home.
With this loss, words can do very little. But prayers and thoughts on your behalf will do more than words could ever do.
You will be in our thoughts and our prayers.

Thoughts and prayers for all of your family. During this very sad time don't forget to take a few moments and smile - laugh and truly celebrate the life of a wonderful person.

So sorry about your loss! My prayers are with all of you! I never got to meet her but learned small things about her through her sister Patti! She was a courageous lady!

So sad we never got to meet Jean. She was always so kind to me, thinking of you all.
04/10/2012 - Reita and Gary Silvers
We went to elementary school with Jean. Even then she was a kind and caring person. Even after all these years I have often thanked God for allowing me to experience her goodness. She is special! God Bless the family.

A kitchen table, an open seat, Priss at her feet, a fun-loving and motherly personality. This is what lives in my mind forever when I think about Jean. From the first time I stepped in the door on Marietta Drive as a growing but clumsy 6th grader, Jean adopted me into the family without pause. Despite often overstaying my welcome and giving her another teenager to worry about; that seat at her kitchen table was always open for me at anytime, for any reason. No matter how trivial the issue of the day might have been for a middle-school or teenage boy, she always listened without judgment and provided just the right adult perspective to push me along.
As I've grown and become busy with all the responsibilities that go along with adulthood, I've missed those kitchen table talks and the perspective I would gain from them... but I knew that seat at the table was always there if needed, and in the meantime there were many others benefitting from that seat and the bent ear and compassionate advice that came along with it. That was Jean's gift to me, and one I hope to pass along as I grow older and my children's friends enter my life.
Mike, Andy, Allison, Jenny, Xander, Samantha, my heart breaks for all of you and that our life counselor is gone. You are all in my prayers and thoughts. -- Johnny

To Jean's family....I am a member of the Grace community in Statesville. I've heard Patti tell the story so many times of how Jean's home provided much-needed sanctuary for her in the midst of an abusive relationship, which then helped spur Patti to work with other victims of domestic violence. I know some of what My Sister's House has done for hundreds of women in this region - Jean shares the credit for all that good and all that bringing of justice and a chance for productive, peaceful lives to these women and their children. We can not know fully your loss, but we do share in that loss. We also enthusiastically share in gratefulness to God for the life of your wife and mother!

Jean was a inspiration to me. Caring for her was such a pleasure as she was a kind, loving and strong woman taking her illness with such dignity. She will always hold a special place in my heart.
04/09/2012 - Donald and Izumi West
We were sad to hear the news. You have our sympathy and we're keeping you close in our prayers.
