We are so sorry to hear of Burton's passing. He will be greatly missed. He was a great example of what a good neighbor should be. Always kind and willing to help anyway possible! May God bless and comfort the family in this time of sadness.

I have so many wonderful memories from my childhood, of my uncle Burton. He treated me like a daughter and was very kind and so much fun. May he rest in peace. The entire family has my sincere sympathy.

We will be missing the warm smile, the wise words of The Bible and the years of history and knowledge brought to us by our friend and neighbor, "Burton". He will always have a place in our hearts...the grandfather to me that I missed while growing up without my own.

You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Our Friend Burton - October 11, 2011
Posted: October 11, 2011 | Last Revised: October 11, 2011
About nine years agow Rose and I were searching for a place with a view of Pilot Mountain to build our retirement home. One day we saw a five acre lot for sale on Hunts Grove Lane that had a great view of the mountain from the road. But the lot was a jungle of briers, brush and scrub pine and it was impossible to even walk on it and look it over. We were thinking of going on and looking elsewhere.
Then we saw an old man on a tractor mowing grass on the property next door. He drove over to us and said "If you want to see that land come up my driveway and you can get on it from there". That was Burton. He told us all about the neighborhood and all the great neighbors he had.
What a lucky day that was for us. If Burton hadn't been there we probably would never bought that lot and settled there. We would have missed being neighbors to such a wonderful friend. He helped us landscape and plant trees and plowed gardens for us. Over the years he was always there for us with advice and help in so many ways.
Our little neighborhood will never be the same without our friend Burton.

Our dear friend and - October 11, 2011

From the first day we moved to Pinnacle, there was always the warm, welcoming presence of Burton in our lives. Always wanting to offer any kind of assistance, Burton would be over here either on his 4-wheeler or Kubota tractor with ideas, suggestions and willing hands.
Burton was always willing to share stories and lessons from his experiences, from driving an oil delivery truck, to working in or running a foundry or his history of working as a machinist.
I learned much about metallurgy, mold-making, machining and farming, along with a colorful history of his time in the Navy at Pearl Harbor.
Watching him grow with his grandchildren, I saw his excitement of seeing children grow. The grandchildren sparked a fire in his heart and he did everything in his power to keep the flame alive between himself and them.
Watching them excitedly ask to ride with him on the 4-wheeler or the tractor and seeing the peaceful happiness in those children as they rode with him was a sight to behold!
His conversations with us on what he had read from The Bible were enlightening and his desire to live by The Bible was commendable!
His life was an example to us all with his dedication to hard work and living within God's word.
His presence will be felt storngly in our hearts and neighborhood for time infinite.
We love you Burton. God has taken you home to your reward well deserved!
