Obituary of Elizabeth Morgan

Pearl Elizabeth “Liz” Morgan, 71, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ May 19, 2015. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 1:00PM Thursday May 21, 2015 at First Christian Church, where she was a longtime member, with Pastor Dr. Pete Kunkle and Pastor Wayne Branch officiating. Inurnment will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery. A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, Liz was the daughter of the late Nannie Shotwell and Robert Walthall. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her brothers Edward, RG, and Bruce. She had worked in computers for a few years, and most recently had worked as League Director for Countryside Bowling Center. She had served as past-President of the Pine Knolls Women’s Golf Association. She will always be remembered for her distinctive smile and her blue eyes. Survivors include her loving husband of almost 44 years Johnny L. Morgan of the home; daughters Tina Nealis of Hillsborough and Robin Lynn Hester of Roxboro; sons Ray Hester and Ivy of Bahama, Scotty Wayne Hester of Durham, and J.J. Morgan and Shannon of Kernersville; grandchildren Sherry, Joey, Jamie, Sarah, Samantha, and Austin; great-grandchildren Ashlee and Brantlee; sister JoAnn Clements and Phil of Timberlake; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family will visit with friends from 4-8pm Wednesday evening at The Jefferson House located at Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services.
