Obituary of Valerie Fields

Kernersville-Valerie Shepard Fields, 58, went home to be with the Lord February 16, 2015. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held Thursday evening at 6:00PM February 19, 2015 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel. Interment service will be held at 2:00PM Friday February 20, 2015 at the Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde, NC. A native of Haywood County, Val was the daughter of the late Betty Jo Brannon and Vance Roger Shepard who survives. She graduated from Tuscola High School Class of ’74, in Waynesville. She had worked at AMP and later Tyco for a number of years. She currently was working for Heritage Home Group in High Point. She loved golf, was a member of Pine Knolls Golf Club, and thoroughly enjoyed her time with her friends and family. She was the Pine Knolls Lady Champion for a number of years as well. In addition to her mother, she also was preceded in death by her brother Larry Shepard, and her god-parents Oren and Ethel Rice. Survivors include her loving husband of 17 years Charlie Fields of the home; father Vance Shepard of Lake Junaluska; brothers Vance Roger Shepard, Jr. of California, and Thomas Lane Shepard and Evalee; nephew Aaron Shepard and Mary; best friend Penny H. Brown; god-daughter Courtney L. Brown. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
